Lukashenko stated he recognized territorial integrity of Georgia

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus recognized "the territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders."

He said this during his first visit to Georgia after meeting with President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Censor.NET reports citing Radio Liberty.

The outlet notes that such a statement of Minsk is a signal to Russian President Vladimir Putin that Belarus is afraid of the Kremlin's plans after the annexation of Crimea and support of the terrorists who invaded the Donbas.

Moscow recognized Georgia's breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions as independent states after the five-day war with Georgia in 2008.
