Poroshenko stated this in an interview with French television channel iTele, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.
"Today, people are dying at the front in Ukraine. In total we have lost more than 6,500 thousand servicemen and civilians. This is a loss that would paralyze any country," Poroshenko said.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine has become united and ready to defend itself as never before in its history.
In early March Poroshenko stated that 1,549 Ukrainian soldiers died in the course of the anti-terrorist operation.
According to the United Nations, as of April 20, 6,116 people were killed and nearly 15,500 were wounded in eastern Ukraine since April 16, 2014.
