Poroshenko tries to reinstate Yanukovych regime - MP Denysenko

Lawmaker Andrii Denysenko accused President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko of trying to reinstate the regime of the fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.

He stated this in the parliament lobby answering reporters' questions regarding the impending revoking of immunity of a number of MPs including Denysenko himself, Censor.NET correspondent reports.

"What we see today is a brutal attempt to show who's the boss, to break the backbone of those MPs who fundamentally oppose the destructive course taken by Mr. Poroshenko in recent weeks. This is the real reason of my being in the so far virtual list (the list of deputies whose parliamentary immunity is to be revoked - ed.)," the deputy said.

"It is a blow to the national security and defense and weakening of the idea of national unity and defense of Ukraine. President Poroshenko began to believe too quickly that the truce on the Eastern front will turn into peace if he starts fulfilling personal and not personal desires of the aggressor state and Putin," Denysenko said.

He stated that Putin's personal desires include Kolomoiskyi's dismissal, neutralization of volunteer battalions of armed units of the Right Sector.

"Unfortunately, we see the realization of this course. The actions of Mr. Poroshenko say that Putin's desires are being fulfilled," the deputy said.

"By flirting with the aggressor, disrupting Geneva format (negotiations in the format of Ukraine, Russia, Germany, France and the U.S., whereas the latter is not included in "Normandy Four" format - e.d.) beneficial for Ukraine, Mr. Poroshenko imposed a situation where Russia and the EU are the arbitrators, and Ukraine and the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" turn out to be parties to the conflict. I believe that this is a hypothetical high treason. And I think we should consider the matter of holding the president of Ukraine criminally liable. And I strongly recommend his fellow sponsor Mr. Shokin (General Prosecutor - ed.) to forget the tradition of nepotism in Ukrainian politics and make the appropriate action order..." Denysenko concluded.
