 Three former Berkut policemen suspected of Euromaidan killings detained in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv employees of the General Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with the Security Service of Ukraine detained three former officers of the Berkut special police unit on suspicion of the murder of Euromaidan activists during the dispersal of a peaceful march in Kyiv, Feb. 18, 2014.

This was stated by Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

According to him, they are reasonably suspected of murder and causing bodily harm to civilians during the march on Hrushevskoho Street towards the Verkhovna Rada.

He noted that the detainees had been employed in the police until the present time with two holding senior posts.

Shokin noted that in the course of the march five people were killed and more than 60 were injured.

Earlier, Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the detention of former Berkut officers Oleksandr Marinchenko and Serhii Tamtura suspected in the shooting of 39 Euromaidan activists on Instytutska Street in Kyiv until June 16.
