Military prosecutor's office of the Sumy Garrison finished pre-trial investigation of the case of SBU lieutenant colonel who is suspected in creation of a terrorist organization, Chief Military Prosecutor, Deputy Prosecutor General Anatolii Matios stated on his website on Monday, Censor.NET reports.
"The penalty for the grave offense of which the lieutenant colonel is suspected, namely the creation of a terrorist group or a terrorist organization (pt. 1, Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code) is punishable by imprisonment for a term of eight to 15 years with confiscation of property or without it," Matios noted.
The said SBU officer visited the territory controlled by the militants in the Donetsk region several times, as well as Crimea and the city of Rostov-on-Don (Russia), where he contacted leaders of the "DPR" terrorist organization and the staff of the Federal Security Service (FSB) to get a job in the so-called "DPR Ministry of State Security."
The lieutenant colonel is also accused of committing crimes under Art. 15, 258-3 and 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "An attempt to commit a crime", "Assisting a terrorist organization" and "Absence without leave".
