Ukraine's public sector of the economy is one of the main sources of corruption and should be privatized.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform. The Cabinet plans that about 250 companies will remain state-owned; other enterprises will be privatized, Prime Minister Yatseniuk said.

"The Ukrainian government proposes to keep more than 250 strategically important companies state-owned. The remaining government-owned enterprises should go for transparent and public privatization," Yatseniuk said at a meeting of the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council.

According to the government head, the public sector is one of the main cells of corruption in the country. "It has always been a feeder for political parties, factions, political elites, where the heads of state companies were appointed by quota principle, and it was quasi-privatization," the prime minister said.

The Cabinet of Ministers intends to privatize all Ukrainian coal mines in 2016, and eliminate those that can not be privatized. The necessary provision is provided by the draft budget resolution for 2016 prepared by the government.

It was reported earlier by Censor.NET that large American investors had shown interest in privatization in Ukraine.
