The standstill period on sale of farming land in Ukraine may be abolished Jan. 1, 2016.

Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Borys Lozhkin said in an interview to LigaBusinessInform, Censor.NET reports.

The presidential administration head believes that the creation of the market of agricultural land is one of the key steps necessary to be made along with the reform of the civil services and the privatization of state-owned companies. "The land market should appear pretty soon. The moratorium may be lifted effective Jan. 1, 2016. I strongly hope that it will be done," Lozhkin said.

"You know, it's all about talks that someone will come to our land and purchase it all... There are a lot of lands on the Earth. There are plenty of places from Russia to Argentina where one can buy land quite freely. In Ukraine, not everyone understands that we are only one of the players who have a lot of competitors in this market," the presidential administration head said.
