Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko informed German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the escalation of the situation in the Donbas due to unwillingness of militants to cease fire and fully withdraw heavy armament. The president also emphasized the need for immediate liberation of all hostages.

Petro Poroshenko called for increase of the number of the OSCE observers and enhancement of their technical support for verification of cease-fire and withdrawal violations, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the head of state.

The parties agreed that it is necessary to establish all conditions for the delivery of humanitarian cargo to the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions provided by the ICRC.

The interlocutors expressed hope that the meeting of Foreign Ministers in the Normandy format in Berlin would be efficient and agreed to continue dialogue following that meeting.
