Heavy weapons are not withdrawn in Donbas – OSCE

The withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line in the Donbas has not yet been completed as both sides use weapons with a caliber exceeding 100 millimeters.

OSCE observer chief Alexander Hug said in an interview for N-tv, Censor.NET reports citing Deutsche welle. According to him, the situation in the region is relatively calm, but there are still violations of the cease-fire, mostly to the east of Mariupol and around the Donetsk airport.

"Both sides use weapons with a caliber exceeding 100 millimeters, which should have been withdrawn according to the Minsk agreements. Therefore, I can state that heavy weapons withdrawal has not been completed," Hug said.

However, he refused to evaluate which of the sides is better at fulfilling the Minsk agreements. "It is hard to tell what the reason of another shootout was", he stated.
