Volunteer Anna Velychko was one of the first who reported the news.

Her statement reads: "Anti-people's mayor of Berdiansk city got 13 years and in this case it is a pity that it is not 15 (the maximum sentence for high treason - the Article 111). And he also may be laid charges for 'abortive crime' (the Article 15) and "creation of a terrorist group" (the Article 258-3). And it would be a shame for a hundred thousand residents of the city and its suburbs if he was not dropped," Anna wrote on her Facebook page.

It should be reminded that Kalaianov along with his henchman was arrested May 25, 2014 in Berdiansk moving arms and ammunition to Mariupol. Another attacker was killed during the arrest.

It was established that the defendants in the case acted within a criminal group that was planning to acquire and use weapons to carry out subversive activities against Ukraine and organize riots in the territory of Berdiansk and Mariupol.

After the detention of members of the group, the operatives have seized 73 boxes of weapons, including assault rifles, machine guns, and rocket launchers, which were delivered in Zaporizhia region by sea from the territory of Crimea.

The persons suspected of treason were imposed a pretrial restraint in the form of detention in custody at the request of the prosecutors. The indictment on the 'people's mayor' was submitted to the court last year in August.
