 Australia implemented sanctions against Russia

Australia has implemented new sanctions against Russia, announced in September 2014.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing Herald Sun.

The new restrictions are imposed on trade in arms, mining equipment, financial instruments, and infrastructure investment in response to Russia's ongoing aggression and threats to Ukraine.

Australia's Foreign Minister Julie Bishop says the sanctions, announced in September, are similar to those implemented by Europe, Canada, and the United States.

As reported, on March 3, U.S. President Barack Obama prolonged sanctions against Russia, implemented in 2014, for another year. The sanctions are imposed in response to Russia's aggression in Ukraine.

Earlier, the EU leaders agreed that sanctions against Russia will be in effect until full compliance with peaceful agreements on Ukraine, and will be prolonged by the end of the year, if necessary.
