Militant commander “Gypsy” killed in Donetsk shooting


Another high-profile murder took place in Donetsk in the late evening of March 26. "DPR lawmaker", field commander of the Mirazh (Mirage) battalion Roman Voznik (call-sign Tsygan/Gypsy) was shot in his car.

This was stated by one of the terrorist leaders, "acting foreign minister of the DPR" Alexander Kofman on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"I was at a meeting, half an hour after a TV show, when I got a call that the car in which he (Voznik - ed.) was traveling with his wife, son and two guards was shot at from a blue Chevy Lacetti at the crossroad of Cheliuskintsiv and Vatutina streets. Roman and Grek (bodyguard) died, thank God, Nastia (wife) and the son were not injured..." he wrote.

Voznik's car was shot out at the intersection of Cheliuskintsiv and Vatutina streets. His bodyguard was also killed. The killers fled the scene.

Before the war Roman Voznik served in the Berkut riot police unit. In March he joined the separatists. He participated in the riots and unrest in Donetsk.
