850 million hryvnia to be allocated for construction of powerful line of defense in Donbas - Poroshenko

According to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, 850 million hryvnia will be allocated for the construction of fortifications in the East of Ukraine.

He stated this during his work visit to the Kharkiv region, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

According to president, all the forces have been pulled for the construction of fortifications along the line of contact, since this is where the greatest threat is today.

"And then Russia will have to explain to the world the reasons for crossing the state border, because today it has a foothold in the form of illegally occupied territories and can write off its invasion to the support of the militants," he said.

Poroshenko also said that it will be a powerful line of defense built by global standards. "And when the enemy tries to attack us, it will pay a very high price," the president said.

Some funds will be drawn from "The Wall" project to build fortifications in the Donbas.

Poroshenko reminded that yesterday Ukraine received the first batch of arms from the United States. "The first ten Humvees went to the 95th brigade and I think there will be enough for other highly mobile units."

"Today, we have to be strong, to have the support of the world and support within the society. We must ensure effective work of the Joint Monitoring Group, and to ensure the activities of observation posts with its representatives, with obligatory participation of the OSCE monitors in the areas of intense fire. And only after that we shall talk about the economic reintegration and preparations for the elections," he said.
