Brussels talks: Russia 'will think’ about discount on gas for Ukraine

The Russian Federation will consider providing a discount on gas to Ukraine until the end of March.

This was told to reporters by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak on the results of gas talks in Brussels on Friday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

He noted that the discount on gas for Ukraine based on the customs duty can be prolonged in April. The question of a discount will be determined on a quarterly basis, since the prices are volatile, he added.

"In turn, the Russian Federation will consider the possibility of a discount in the amount of customs duty based on the decision of the Russian government as a result of address of the Ukrainian government or the European Commission by the end of March," the minister said.

"Accordingly, this discount can be provided by the decision of the government in the second quarter. We agreed to address this issue on a quarterly basis, given that the prices on the market today are volatile and the size of the discount also depends on the prices formed in the gas market," he explained.
