 Poroshenko and Merkel initiate Normandy four foreign ministers meeting

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.

The parties discussed the situation in the Donbas and the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Ukrainian president.

The head of state informed that Ukraine remained devoted to its commitments and their fulfillment, the Verkhovna Rada had adopted the Decree "On determination of certain districts, cities, villages and towns of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions where special order of the local government is being introduced".

Poroshenko emphasized that under the Law on Special Order of the Local Government, future elections in certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions should be free, fair and meet the international standards of the OSCE.

Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel have agreed to initiate a meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers of the Normandy group.

The president has also thanked the Chancellor for the warm welcome and constructive dialogue in the course of his recent visit to Germany on March 16.
