Granting only non-lethal weapons to Ukraine will not end war in Donbas – U.S. Congressman

An aggressive war is already being waged against Ukraine, and provision of non-lethal weapons will not help Ukraine in the long-term, congressman says.

In an interview with Radio Svoboda Congressman Eliot Engel (D) noted that it was a good thing that the U.S. had sent non-lethal assistance to Ukraine, but it is not enough. He also stated that it would not help in any way in the long-term, Censor.NET reports.

He noted that he and other supporters of providing lethal weapons do not call on Ukraine to start an aggressive war, since one is already being waged against it.

Engel stated that he and his colleagues want Ukraine to have means to defend itself calling current situation catastrophic.
