Minister of Energy and Coal Industry wants to raise the price of gas transit for Russia by 30 per cent

Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn expects to reach agreement with Gazprom to increase the rate of transit of Russian gas through Ukraine by 30 per cent.

He said at the briefing, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"The current transit rate is $2.88 for one thousand cubic meters per 100 km in the first quarter ... I set a goal for myself to increase this rate by at least 30 per cent," he said.

According to him, the current transit rates formula envisaged by the contract with Gazprom considers only transport services but, according to the minister, the funds to maintain the existing transportation infrastructure should be also included.

It should be noted that Demchyshyn expects to discuss the rates of the Russian gas transit through Ukraine at trilateral gas talks in Belgium March 20.
