The Pentagon fears that Russia took a break before major offensive in the Donbas

The U.S. Department of Defense officials fear that Moscow could be preparing the next major offensive against the Ukrainian troops in Eastern Ukraine.

Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Brian McKeon stated during hearing in the U.S. Senate, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

According to Brian McKeon, the cease-fire violations (along the entire demarcation line - ed.) continue to be registered and, in most cases, they are committed by the Russia's and the separatists' side. He added that this is not the immediate and comprehensive cease-fire, envisaged by the plan.

The Pentagon representative stressed that the tactics of evasion, which is used by the pro-Russian forces, may be a harbinger of even greater offensive, as it was before the last Russia's and militants' onslaught in January.

Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense has called on Russia to stop such actions, observe the cease-fire, and let Ukraine choose its own path independently.
