The rally in honor of the 201st anniversary of Shevchenko's birth took place in Gagarin park in Simferopol. It was attended by about 50 people. The participants read poems of the poet, and chanted the slogan "Glory to Ukraine!" A Crimean Tatar flag and two Ukrainian ones were unfolded. One of them had "Crimea is Ukraine" written on it.
The event was peaceful. When it ended and people began to disperse, the "police" detained its organizer Leonid Kuzmin and two other participants. According to the police, the reason for the detention was the use of Ukrainian symbols at the rally.
About 15 of the protesters decided to accompany the police and detained to the police department where they remain until now.
