 Explosion rocked Donetsk mine Wednesday morning. Media report 30 killed. VIDEO

An explosion of methane gas mixture rocked one of Donetsk mines, Zasyadko, in the morning of March 4. According to Rada speaker Volodymyr Hroisman, one miner's death has been confirmed. 32 people's fate remains unknown.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing ZN.UA.

According to Confederation of free trade unions of Ukraine, the incident happened at 5:20 a.m.

"At the moment of the explosion, 207 miners were in the mine. The explosion occurred in the eastern face of the third bank. Five miners managed to escape the emergency area, the fate of another 47 people is unknown," the Confederation's website cited Mykhailo Volynets, head of the Independent miners trade union.

Russian media cite the so-called 'DPR' representatives saying one person has been killed. The rescue operations continue.

Gazeta.ru is citing Reuters that the number of those killed by the explosion in the Donetsk mine increased to 30.

They quote Bolodymyr Tsymbalenko, head of the 'DPR' mining inspection, saying that "according to preliminary data, more than 30 miners were killed. The rescuers cannot reach the explosion site because of poisonous gas."

As reported by UNIAN, the Rada speaker Volodymyr Hroisman announced that one miner's death has been confirmed.

He specified that one person was killed, the fate of 32 more is unknown. "They are being searched for," the speaker said.
