According to Mr. McCain, everyone realizes that the Europeans will do nothing until they are dependent on Russian energy supplies and there is currently no capable leadership in the United States. He suggests that this reality has just to be accepted.
Speaking of his visit to Munich, the Senator said he heard something like comparison with East Germany from the Chancellor. He added that this was obviously nonsense because East Germany existed during the Cold War.
According to McCain, it is the first time in 70 years when one may observe the German Chancellor and French President supporting the division of the European country.
Mr. McCain stated that this case has encouraged other global players, including China and the Middle East, adding that it is a dangerous precedent that could push Putin to further adventurism.
Senator McCain reiterated that the U.S. should deliver military support to Ukraine, but President Barack Obama has not yet made his decision.
According to John McCain, if Ukrainians want to fight for the independence and freedom of their country, then the United States should provide them with the means to achieve this goal. He stressed that the United States has been aiding the people who fought for their freedom throughout its entire history and now the U.S. president is flagrantly violating this approach.
