"Normandy Four" did not agree on Debaltseve situation - Klimkin

The meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Normandy Four countries, which include Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany, ended in Paris.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin announced that the parties could not agree on condemnation of the Minsk cease-fire violation and Debaltseve events. "The political decision on how to regard the Debaltseve situation was not made," he said, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

Klimkin also noted that the Foreign Ministers managed to agree on important technical issues of support of the OSCE monitoring mission in the east of Ukraine.

"We managed to agree on several technical aspects, including those on the OSCE mission support, on enhancement of the mission's possibilities while abiding by the cease-fire and withdrawing troops," Klimkin said.

As stated by German's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the situation in the east of Ukraine remains fragile despite decrease in violence. The Normandy Four ministers agreed to attempt prolongation of the mandate of the OSCE mission for another year, he said. According to Steinmeier, the withdrawal of heavy weapons in the east of Ukraine shall be conducted in the coming days.
