According to the defense, the court was to elect a measure of restraint in connection with the new charges by the prosecutor's office. The recess was announced to allow for expert testimony used to file the new charges against Yefremov. These include deliberate actions aimed at inciting national, racial or religious enmity and hatred, which resulted in serious consequences such as decimation.
The lawyer stated that the recess was declared at the request of the defense. The hearing will recommence tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
On Feb. 17 the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) announced suspicion of Yefremov having committed an offense under Pt. 3 Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - deliberate actions aimed at inciting national, racial or religious enmity and hatred, which resulted in serious consequences such as decimation.
On Feb. 18 the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv began the hearing of PGO investigator's petition on Yefremov's detainment without contest. The hearing was rescheduled for Feb. 19 at the request of the prosecutor's office in connection with the need to make changes to the petition on a restrictive measure.
