"Andrii Shevchenko (the Verkhovna Rada deputy of the sixth convocation - ed.) was sending me text messages during shootout on Maidan, when activists on barricades were shot dead, in which he reported that Berkut riot police officers were also fired at," the politician said.
Parubii reported that he heard the first shots on Maidan at about 8 a.m. Feb. 20, 2014. According to him, the shots came from the direction of the Ukraina hotel, slightly to its right. "Later I learned that the firing points were equipped on the roof of the Presidential Administration, as well as on the roof of the National Bank. But when I was standing near the stage, I got the impression that the shots are coming from the Ukraina hotel," the former commandant of Maidan said.
The politician is absolutely convinced that the Russian special forces were shooting then: "I was several times warned about it during events on Maidan. Once a man approached me and said that four groups were acting against us - one from Belarus and three from Russia, whose main task was to escalate the situation, fuel the conflict, create crisis conditions near diplomatic missions," Parubii said adding: "One of these groups had the task to eliminate me, and this man came to warn me."
According to the politician, the same scenario involving the participation of the third party which is escalating the confrontation may be currently observed in the east of Ukraine.
