Canada announced economic sanctions and travel bans against 37 Russian and Ukrainian individuals as well as economic sanctions against 17 Russian and Ukrainian entities.

Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper issued statement on additional sanctions today, Censor.NET reports citing Gazeta.ru.

Canadian authorities imposed economic sanctions and travel bans against 37 Russian and Ukrainian individuals, and economic sanctions against 17 Russian and Ukrainian entities including the Russian oil company Rosneft.

"Canada's position remains clear: we recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and will never recognize the illegal Russian occupation of any part of the country," the Canadian prime minister said.

Canada's new sanctions list includes State Duma deputy Iosif Kobzon, journalist Dmitry Kiselev, State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Valery Rashkin, Russian Federation Defense Minister Deputy Anatoly Antonov, Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov, self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic envoy in the contact group Vladislav Deinego.

The list also includes six representatives of the Russian Federation military command (some of them are under EU sanctions since last year): Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov, Deputy Chief of Staff Andrey Kartapolov, First Deputy Commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Alexander Nosatov, deputy commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Valery Kulikov, commander of the 76th Pskov Airborne Division Alexei Naumets (involved in the invasion into Donbas), Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District Igor Turchenyuk (led Crimea occupation operation).
