Poroshenko and Merkel condemned the violation of the cease-fire in Debaltseve. "It is a cynical attack on the Minsk agreements," the president noted, Censor.NET reports citing the president's press service.
He urged the European Union and the entire international community to firmly respond to the treacherous actions of the militants and Russia.
"Today, the world must stop the aggressor. I call on the permanent members of the UN Security Council to prevent further violation of fundamental principles and rules of the UN and the unleashing of a full-scale warfare in the very center of Europe," the head of state emphasized.
