"The first practical step made in the legislative reform of the Interior Ministry!
"The parliament adopted the Law of Ukraine "On amending certain legislation acts of Ukraine regarding the reform of the law enforcement agencies".
"The reform road is a long one. This is not even the first step, but, frankly speaking, a prelude, preparation for major changes. But an important prelude allowing to commence changes, to start moving forward!
"OCD, transit police, veterinary police, a lot of unnecessary add-ons have been eliminated.
"Separately, I note that the present operatives and experts really struggling with gang violence have nothing to worry about, they will be claimed and transferred into the Criminal Investigation Department. These professionals will be protected.
"We are moving in accordance with reform strategy. The next step is adoption of two laws - "On law enforcement agencies" and "On national police." We will not delay the introduction of these laws (to the parliament - ed.) nor will we stop actual changes in the structure of the police, which we already started by bringing new patrol in the place of the traffic police, creating our Ukrainian S.W.A.T., changing the old Interdistrict Registration-Examinational Offices (Ukrainian DMV).
"There is still a lot of work ahead. Do is the first part of done. Thanks to all those who help!" Avakov wrote.
It should be noted that the reform of the Ministry of Interior is the first serious reform among the ministries of the Ukrainian Cabinet.
