EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini said on Wednesday that the increase in violence in the east of Ukraine needs to be stopped and the artillery should be withdrawn from residential areas.
According to her, the fighting triggered by the prolonged offensive of the separatists, especially around Debaltseve lead to great human suffering and undermine all efforts for a political solution.
Mogherini also supported the call by the OSCE chairmanship to all parties to the conflict in the region of Debaltseve to announce temporary truce for at least three days.
