EU Council may impose new sanctions against Russia today

Belgium’s Foreign Minister Didier Reynders is convinced that there will be consensus among the EU member states on new sanctions against Russia due to the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine, which can be passed even during today's meeting of the European Council on Foreign Relations.

This was stated by Reynders in Brussels before the meeting, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

Reynders said that the foreign ministers are currently expecting a clear statement of the Greek government on sanctions against Russia.

He expressed hope that it would be possible to go further with the existing consensus, because there were so many dramatic events in Ukraine, that it was necessary to take new measures against certain persons and legal entities.

The draft conclusions of the meeting of the European Council on Foreign Affairs propose to extend the sanctions against Russia for six months, as well as expand the "black list".
