 EU should consider new sanctions against Russia – U.K. Foreign Minister

The foreign ministers of the EU countries shall prepare the response to the deteriorating situation in the east of Ukraine, in particular, new restrictive measures.

This was stated by Minister of the United Kingdom for European Affairs David Lidington to the journalists in Brussels before the meeting of the Foreign Ministers, Censor.NET reports citing Evroropravda.

He said it was their duty to consider options for the future, in particular, further restrictive measures against the Russian Federation.

According to him, the EU leaders will decide whether to implement new sanctions depending on how the situation will develop.

According to Lidington, responsibility for the implementation of the Minsk agreements should be placed on pro-Russian separatists and their sponsors in Moscow.

The British minister stressed that the shelling of Mariupol caused the largest loss of civilian lives since the beginning of the conflict, after the MH17 flight.
