The president of Ukraine reminded in his letter of the Ukrainian party's adherence to "the full and unconditional implementation of the Minsk agreements." He also recalled that during the meeting of foreign ministers in the 'Normandy format' in Berlin Jan. 21 Russian minister, "Sergey Lavrov expressed Russia's commitment to Minsk agreements and emphasized that the withdrawal of weapons of the caliber exceeding 100 mm will be performed exactly according to the contact line enshrined in Minsk Memorandum dated Sept. 19, 2014."
The president of Ukraine noted that the recent tragic events in Ukraine, in particular " the shelling of Mariupol by the militants from illegal armed groups, confirmed by the OSCE special monitoring mission conclusions," require "immediate implementation of comprehensive measures for the resumption of the cease-fire and beginning of implementation of all activities provided by the Minsk agreements."
The President of Ukraine also considers it expedient to hold consultations of the tripartite contact group in the nearest future.
On this occasion Poroshenko also appealed to Putin "with a request to release citizen of Ukraine Nadia Savchenko from detention in the Russian Federation due to the deterioration of her health." However, Poroshenko said in an interview with Polish television channel TVN-24 that in his letter, he "demanded not only to cease fire and the implementation of Minsk agreements but also to release Nadia Savchenko and all the hostages."
