The report notes: "The most difficult situation has developed in the area of Debaltseve town. The enemy is conducting massive attacks on the ATO positions near Debaltseve, Olkhovatka, Ridkodub, Popasna, Sanzharivka, Troitske, Chornukhyne and others. The total number of such attacks as of 6 p.m. was 45. Our military has successfully conducted counter-battery fire, causing militant losses in manpower and equipment."
"Fierce fighting continues in the vicinity of the Donetsk airport. The Ukrainian military occupy advantageous lines, retain their positions, at the same time making artillery strikes on the attackers and fire weapons. Towns and villages near the airport are being subjected to artillery and rocket fire. The town of Tonenke was shelled with a Grad MLRS. Later, there was shelling of the Ukrainian strongholds near Avdiivka, Verhkniotoretske, Marinka, and Oprosne. In the area of Verhkniotoretske the militants resorted to unsuccessful assaults several times. Through skillful fire maneuver, the Ukrainian military are causing numerous losses to the militants," the ATO press center stressed.
The press center also stated that "the militants conducted shelling of our positions with artillery and Grad In the area of 29th and 31st checkpoints near Krymske and Nyzhnie this morning. Then, at about 10 a.m., the enemy used tanks with a tank duel ensuing. As a result of competent actions of our tankers the enemy withdrew. There was a relative lull in the afternoon.
"The militants did not show much activity at Mariupol direction. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. they used small arms and mortars three times to fire at our positions near Mykolaivka, and an hour later they opened fire on Chermalyk three times. The return fire of the Ukrainian military forced the militants to stop firing."
"The fire on civilians by the terrorists was once again recorded. The artillery fire was used against Hranitne and Grad MLRS was used against the Avdiivka coke plant. The militants also continue to use tactics of shelling checkpoints across the line of contact," the press center of the ATO summed up.
