"It was quiet in the morning. Then the enemy launched a new assault, exactly repeating the past two days' scenario. Accurate tank and artillery shelling was followed by the enemy assault teams' close engagement. Our artillery fired back, the attack was repulsed. The active hostilities were ceased after that.

"The sounds of shots could be rarely heard now, but the Russian Sparta detachment militants have put up a smokescreen to cover up the evacuation of their numerous dead and wounded from the terminal. The smoke is everywhere. It is still calm but it certainly will not last long.

"93rd Brigade Commander Mikats personally runs combat operations in the vicinity of the airport now - he is a decent commander who understands the situation. But he is not the one making operational decisions. Our servicemen will cope although it will not be easy. We need to launch large-scale actions," Butusov wrote.
