 Ukraine reduced gas consumption by 16% in 2014

Ukraine reduced natural gas consumption by 16%, or 7.8 billion cubic meters (cbm) down to 42.6 billion cbm in 2014.

This is stated in the report of the Naftohaz Ukrainy National Joint Stock Company, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

According to the report, the greatest reduction in consumption occurred in the industrial sector - 3.9 billion cbm. (from 20.1 to 15.7 billion cbm - 22%), technology gas consumption for production and transportation of natural gas also significantly decreased (from 4.3 to 3.7 billion cbm - 14%).

The consumption of gas by the population in 2014 constituted 15.1 billion cbm (16.8 billion cbm in 2013 -10%).

Public heat and power enterprises have reduced the use of gas by 0.8 billion cbm over the past year (from 8.3 to 7.0 billion cbm - 16%).

The above numbers include the gas consumption data for Crimea for 12 months of 2013 (1.7 billion cbm) and 2 months of 2014 (0.5 billion cbm).

Excluding these data, the consumption of gas in the rest of the territory of Ukraine decreased by 14%, including consumer categories: industry - 15% down to 16.1 billion cbm, population - by 7% down to 15.0 billion cbm, heat and power enterprises - 8% down to 7.0 billion cbm.

Last year, gas consumption decreased in all regions of Ukraine, and in all categories of consumers.
