Russia may start an offensive. This will lead to the beginning of a full-scale continental war – NSDC Secretary Turchynov

Russian aggression in Ukraine continues. The situation in the ATO area has deteriorated in recent days.

This was announced today by National Security Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, presenting a bill on partial mobilization in 2015 in the parliament, Censor.NET.

"Yesterday, the terrorists carried out more than 129 attacks on the positions of the ATO forces. This is a record since the beginning of the year," he said.

According to Turchynov, as a result of attacks, two soldiers were killed and four were injured.

"A military group of over 38,000 people is deployed in the occupied part of the Donbas. Of these, 8,500 are professional troops of the Russian Federation."

The NSDC Secretary also drew attention to the fact that there are about 50,000 Russian troops deployed near the eastern borders of Ukraine in full combat readiness. They are equipped with 300 tanks, over 1,800 armored vehicles, 750 artillery systems and multiple rocket launchers, and 360 combat aircraft and attack helicopters.

Turchynov suggested that there are two possible scenarios in this situation. First is the resumption of active operations and offensive involving Russian troops, which will lead to the beginning of a full-scale continental war. The second scenario is the Kremlin's attempts to prevent the stabilization of the situation in Ukraine, intensification of terrorist activities in order to turn the confrontation in a drawn out military conflict.
