The report reads: "The illegal armed groups 85 times shelled the positions of our military from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. The terrorists conducted shelling using mainly heavy weapons such as artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, tanks, inflicting both our forces' position and villages and cities with civilians. The illegal armed groups shelled 31 villages and cities in the Donbas as well as our military positions near them during the day.The fiercest battles were in the Donetsk airport and villages near it as well as in several villages and cities at the Luhansk Debaltseve directions."
"The illegal armed groups began shelling Donetsk airport using mortars at 6 a.m. The militants stormed the Ukrainian Cyborgs' outpost at 9.20 a.m. Our soldiers repulsed the militants' attack inflicting casualties. The terrorists retreated and were committing shelling of the new terminal and the control tower from mortars and tanks during the day. The airport defenders do not lose control over their positions and get a powerful fire support," the ATO press center report reads.
The press center notes: "The illegal armed groups also continue shelling villages near the airport and at the Luhansk direction. They cynically shelled civilians in the villages of Avdiivka, Hranytne and Shchastia from mortars, artillery and Grad launchers today. The workshop of the school No. 3 and several private houses were destroyed in Avdiivka. One civilian was killed and two were wounded as a result of the tank gun shelling in Shchastia village.
"The terrorists 12 times opened fire on our forces' positions using MLRS Grad. These attacks inflicted the villages of Novokalynove, Opytne, Tonenke, Orlivka, Triokhizbenka, Krymske, Orlovo-Ivanivka, Mius, Ridkodub, and Kamianka. Some villages were shelled from Grads several times. The tensest situation in other areas is near Nikishyne and Mohyla-Hostra.
"The Ukrainian military do not lose control of their positions and meanwhile cope with the restoration of the Donbas infrastructure destroyed by the terrorists. Thus the supply of electricity in a number of villages in the Luhansk region was restored through the repair of the lines damaged by the shelling thanks to the joint efforts of the Armed Forces servicemen and local power engineers. The long-awaited electricity and heating was finally returned to the local citizens' homes," the ATO press center statement sums up.
