"Since 6 p.m. yesterday, illegal armed groups shelled Ukrainian army's positions for 22 times, including with heavy weapons," the message reads.
According to the staff headquarters, the Donetsk airport and its vicinities remain the most tense in terms of armed hostilities.
"Last night, there was a fighting between the terrorists and the defenders of the airport's new terminal. The terrorists shelled the airport's meteorological tower and the village of Avdiivka from mortars from the Donetsk direction. The villages of Tonenke, Pisky, Opytne were shelled by the terrorists from mortars, artillery, and Grad MLRSes, the village of Hranitne was shelled with anti-tank guided missile," the press center noted.
Along with that, according to the staff headquarters, other villages and towns were shelled by the terrorists from mortars and artillery systems, among them being Vuhlehirsk, Leninske, Hnutove, Nikishyne.
"Our soldiers control the situation and hit when necessary, defeating the most active firing points of the enemy. The terrorists suffer losses," the HQ announced.
They also note that the illegal armed groups shelled the Ukrainian army's positions for 63 times over the past 24 hours. "Since 1 a.m. until morning, all was quiet in the ATO zone - no shots have been reported."
