Russian ‘Vodnik’ armored vehicles appeared in Donbas following ‘Vistrel’. PHOTOS+VIDEO

A large number of armored vehicles were used by the Russian troops in Krasnodon Jan. 10, 2015, during the disarmament of the so-called ‘Odessa’ independent special designation brigade of the “Ministry of State Security of the Luhansk People’s Republic”. At the same time, another limited-edition Russian four-wheel drive armored vehicles GAZ-3937 "Vodnik" were spotted there besides KamAZ-43269 "Vistrel" wheeled armored vehicles which were observed in service with the LPR forces previously in December.

Censor.NET reports citing bmpd blog on LiveJournal.

GAZ-3937 "Vodnik" high-mobility multipurpose military vehicle was produced in small batches by the Russian Federation "GAZ Group" at Arzamas Engineering Works JSC in the 1990s and 2000s, and were put in service with the Russian Ministry of Defense (the Strategic Missile Forces and the commandant detachments in particular). These vehicles have also been delivered to Uruguay (48 units) to cover the Soviet Union's debt. Obviously, "Vodnik" appeared to be generally ineffectual equipment that's why it was being withdrawn from the service as well as Vistrel and Dozor armored vehicles during the last few years. Evidently the "LPR" gets them now.
