"If we talk about the main results, this meeting was technical, and its main purpose was to verify the positions of the parties before recommending, at the highest political level, at the level of Foreign Ministers, and at the level of Heads of State, to carry out further negotiations. We reached an agreement on the possible text of the final document, and there are quite a lot of controversial points, which were accepted by all parties," Makeiev said.
According to him, the participants expressed the need to hold a tripartite meeting of the contact group to resolve the situation in Ukraine in the near future, with proposed place being Kyiv.
"In pursuance of the agreements of the foreign ministers, it was confirmed, and I hope that all the capitals will send a clear political signal, that we are interested in a tripartite contact group meeting in Kyiv in the coming days and holding consultations with representatives of individual districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, so as to reach specific agreements on ceasefire, withdrawal of equipment and weapons at the line of contact, as well as provide free access for humanitarian assistance during these consultations," the diplomat said.
Makeiev added that the foreign ministers of Normandy Four countries will be able to discuss the results of these talks at the meeting planned for Jan. 9.
"Another important signal of the capitals is that Moscow, Kyiv, Berlin, and Paris will work hard to make sure the meeting that may be held in Astana is held with specific results," he concluded.
