Five Ukrainians die in plane crash in Congo

According to the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Kenya, a cargo plane AN-26 of the Ukrainian airlines Syryn flying from Entebbe (Uganda) to Pointe Noire (Congo) crashed in the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Dec. 28.

According to preliminary data, six crew members died in the crash, five of which were citizens of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

Search operations continue at the crash site. Experts are studying the crash.

Ukrainian diplomatic institutions in Belgium and Kenya were instructed to undertake comprehensive measures to clarify the circumstances of the incident and organize the delivery of the bodies of Ukrainian citizens to their homeland.

The case is under special control of the Department of Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
