 Poroshenko hands 100 units of military equipment and two Mi-8 helicopters to the Army: Now we have means to defend Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko presented about 100 items of military equipment and armament produced and repaired by the defense-industrial enterprises of Ukraine in the Yavoriv garrison.

In the International Peacekeeping and Security Center of Petro Sahaidachny Army Academy, the president passed on certificates for manufactured and repaired equipment, armament and small arms, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the head of state.

"Now we have means to defend our land. Ukrainians have morale and now they have also received means of protection," the president noted. Addressing the troops, the president informed that the defense budget for 2015 constitutes 90 billion hryvnia (5% of GDP).

The list of transferred equipment includes: T-64BV tanks, Pion 203mm self-propelled howitzers, command vehicles, KrAZ Spartan armored vehicles, Mi-8 and Mi-2 helicopters, obstacle cleaning vehicles, ambulance trucks, Fort assault rifles. The president also presented certificates for American counter-battery stations.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Zhytomyr and Lviv armor repair plants, Kremenchuk automobile plant, Fort research and production union of the Ministry of the Interior, Motor Sich enterprise and everyone involved in the production and repair of the military equipment.

The president has presented certificates for two repaired Mi-8 helicopters of the State Affairs Department. They are given to the Ministry of Defense for free. "The president can do without helicopters, but the army cannot," Poroshenko said.

He inspected the samples of the armament, particularly new complex of anti-mortar radars, modern drones, precise artillery weapons, etc. Poroshenko also examined the samples of the uniform, military equipment, body armors, helmets, heating means etc.
