"The fight ended 10 minutes ago. The militants retreated, the Donetsk airport remains under our control," Poroshenko said.
According to him, the attack was carried out by several dozen militants.
"Three defenders of the airport were killed, 14 militants also lost their livesб and one was taken prisoner ... But this is war," the president said.
President Poroshenko noted that the Ukrainian army does not have enough strength to start an offensive in the Donbas.
"We do not have enough strength for an offensive," he said at the final press conference, when asked about the militants' attack on the ATO forces in Pisky near Donetsk. Poroshenko added that there are enough tanks and artillery in Pisky to prevent any tank or artillery breakthrough.
According to him, there are too many Russian military concentrated in the Donbas.
The president also noted that military actions in urban areas require a significant superiority of the attacking side, and marching on Donetsk, for example, cannot be done by the ATO forces now.
