The President called for the adoption of the draft laws that would create a fair judicial system. Respective draft law "On Ensuring the Right to a Fair Trial" has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the President. The draft law provides for re-certification of judges, their appointment under the competitive principle, additional control over their property and enhancement of their disciplinary liability.

The Head of State also stressed the importance of amendments to the Law on Public Prosecution. "Real staff renewal is essential. We need fresh blood; we need new people who are not burdened with the necessity to cover each other's backs," the President noted.
