Poroshenko conducts illegal construction in buffer zone of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

Poroshenko’s declaration of the start of construction in the buffer zone of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and St. Sophia was registered without the required permit of the Ministry of Culture.

This is stated in an investigation by journalists of Radio Svoboda, Censor.NET reports.

In 2009 Poroshenko bought a plot of land at 5, Radialna str. in the buffer zone of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Kyiv: Saint Sophia Cathedral and the surrounding monastic buildings, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra" journalists note. Specified purpose is housing construction with area of 0.6135 ha.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of Cultural Heritage", the construction in the protected areas requires obtaining permission from the Ministry of Culture.
