 Grenade thrown at lawmakers in downtown Kyiv. VIDEO

Last night, at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, an explosion occurred near one of the capital’s hotels.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing the press service of the Interior Ministry.

According to the agency, an unknown young man tossed an explosive device towards MPs. Forensic technicians are currently trying to determine whether it was and RPG-5 grenade or a stun grenade.

"After the explosion, the attacker ran toward Kriposnyi lane. The policemen began the pursuit. During the chase, the unknown man threw another grenade in the direction of the police officers, wounding one of them. The policeman is now hospitalized. Measures are being taken to identify and arrest the assailant," the report notes.

It was later confirmed that the unknown person threw a grenade at the feet of People's Front MP Andrii Parubii and his colleagues.

The Investigation Division of Pechersk district police opened criminal proceedings in accordance with p. 4 Art. 296 "Hooliganism".

The Ministry's video shows that grenade shrapnel grazed the cars standing in the parking lot of the hotel.
