 Obama does not intend to visit the Russian Federation, despite invitation - White House

U.S. President Barack Obama declined the invitation to come to Russia for the celebrations dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the World War II.

National Security Council spokesperson Mark Stroh announced at the White House, Censor.NET reports citing Lenta.ru.

"The president has no plans to visit Russia in the near future," Stroh said.

It became known earlier Monday, Dec. 22, that Moscow sent invitation to the American leader to participate in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Invitations were sent to leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition states including the USA, the United Kingdom, and China.

Obama was invited to Moscow in 2010 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Victory. The American president did not manage to visit the Russian capital at that time.
