External debt of Ukraine has not grown by a single dollar this year - Yatseniuk

Ukraine's foreign debt is holding at a constant level of $72 billion.

This was stated by Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk during the signing of loan agreements with the European Investment Bank, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"The government has managed to maintain the size of external debt of Ukraine to foreign creditors at the level of $72 billion this year. We have not increased the external debt by a single dollar," Yatseniuk said.

At the same time, he noted that Ukraine's external debt under previous government has doubled in four years.

"That is, they basically took $40 billion that we are now looking for ways to return and serve," the prime minister said.

However, he suggested that by the end of the year the situation may somewhat change. "But for now we are maintaining the balance by all possible ways and means available to us," he said.
