 SBU prevented terrorist attack in Kyiv - Lubkivskyi

The SBU Counterintelligence officers prevented terrorist attack in the capital’s downtown.

SBU Head's Adviser Markiian Lubkivskyi told at the briefing Friday, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.

"SBU detained female-saboteur who wanted to destroy at least half of the Globus shopping center in Kyiv using the explosives brought from the ATO area," he said.

According to him, terrorist Anastasia Kovalenko is originally from Luhansk. The supervisor of the planned terrorist attack on the Maidan is GRU career officer with the call sign Konstantin.

"She constantly communicated by the phone with her superior - the main intelligence directorate of the Russian General Staff officer with the call sign Konstantin. The route of the saboteur went through Maidan Nezalezhnosti and further down the Horodetskii Street to Franko Theatre," Ukrainski Novyny reported citing Lubkivskyi.

According to the SBU information, the terrorist's supervisor has been staying in the Luhansk region for the last four months.

"It was him, who trained this female-saboteur," Lubkivskyi added.

Interfax-Ukraine reports that, the weight of the explosive found in her bag is equivalent to 3 kg of TNT, and if the device exploded, the fragment dispersion diameter would be up to 500 meters. "There could be mass casualties," Lubkivskyi said.
