 Ukraine fines 27 Russian airlines for 300 million hryvnia for flights to Crimea

Ukraine has fined 27 Russian airlines for the total amount of about 300 million hryvnia for violation of airspace of the Russian annexed Crimea.

This was stated at a briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Yevhen Perebyinis, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

"For violations of Art. 29 of the Air Code of Ukraine 27 Russian airlines were issued financial penalties such as fines. A total of 2,193 decisions were issued amounting to about 300 million hryvnia," he said.

He also added that on Dec. 5 the Foreign Ministry together with representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine held an interagency meeting to develop an algorithm of further steps aimed at countering Russia's violations of closed ports and airfields.

He said that the financial sanctions of Ukraine cover in particular "Aeroflot - Russian Airlines" and "Transaero".
