"I want to thank the members of the Australian group which was working in extreme and dangerous conditions," he said.
The president added that Ukraine continues to assist in the immediate, full and transparent international investigation of the crash.
"We provide all the necessary technical equipment and experts to conduct the investigation," Poroshenko said.
According to him, the preliminary results of the investigation confirmed that the plane was shot down by a Russian rocket.
"Intelligence suggests that a Buk-M system missile was launched the aircraft. It was brought into the Donbas from Russia together with the crew," Poroshenko stressed.
In turn, Abbott said: "On the morning of Jul. 17 flight MH17 was shot down in the sky by the militants supported by Russia." He thanked the Australian team for their prompt and efficient work. Prime Minister Abbott also noted the help of the Ukrainian government in organizing the work of the Australian experts.
Poroshenko noted that pro-Russian DPR and LPR shall be recognized as terrorist organizations.
In turn, the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Australia Marshal Allan Grant Houston, who arrived in Ukraine immediately after the crash, thanked Poroshenko for the assistance and cooperation during the work of the Australian experts. "I want to thank you for your cooperation at all levels of the government in the process of organizing the investigation," he said.
Marshal Houston noted the friendly attitude of the Ukrainian side and its solidarity. He wished Ukraine success in overcoming the challenges that it is currently facing.
